More Antioxidants than Green Tea
Studies reveal Mate to be higher in antioxidants than green tea, partly due to its high Polyphenol content. Yerba Mate also contains vitamins including C, B1 and B2, as well as minerals important for metabolism including Chromium, Copper, Iron, Manganese, Potassium and Zinc. Traditional Gourd
Experience traditional Mate culture with the gourd and bombilla.
French Press
Start with 1/4 cup of Mate leaves per quart of water. Allow to steep in hot (not boiling) water for 3-5 minutes. Adjust the amount of Mate according to your desired strength.
Iced Tea
Brew the Mate extra strong, using 1/2 cup of Mate leaves per quart of water. Mix with honey and lemon, or your favorite juice concentrate. Pour over ice.
Tea Pot or Tea Ball
Start with 1 tablespoon of Mate leaves per 12 oz cup of hot (not boiling) water. Let steep for 3-5 minutes. Adjust the amount of Mate according to your desired strength.
Coffee Maker
Use your coffee machine as normal, starting with ¼ cup of Mate leaves per quart of water. Adjust the amount of Mate according to your desired strength.
Espresso Machine
Using your espresso machine, fill the basket 3/4 full to allow for expansion of the leaves. Adjust amount to achieve a slow but steady flow. Pour in steamed milk and honey for a latte.
